Saule Technologies, Columbus Energy and Somfy Polska have signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Together, we will propose innovative solutions for existing buildings and building projects under construction.
This tripartite agreement, signed on 30 March this year by Saule Technologies, Columbus and Somfy Polska, finalises the understanding which the companies made in August 2021 on the occasion of launching the commercial application of Saule Technologies sun blinds. Somfy Polska, as a company operating on 112 markets globally, opens up new opportunities for Saule Tehcnologies and Columbus, providing access to their customers and product solutions.
In line with the agreement, the companies will cooperate in the scope of commercialisation and further development of perovskite cells, in the sphere of energy and digital transition. They are also planning to develop and launch new products for the existing building sector or for buildings under construction, including those addressed to individual customers.

“We are planning to create several new products based on perovskite cells, including at least three from the BAPV, B2B utility scale and B2C categories. Having outstanding state-of-the-art energy experts and world class manufacturer of building automation systems, we are able to develop solutions which have the chance to revolutionise the green construction sector,” said Piotr Krych, Management Board Representative, Saule S.A.
“In March 2021, the European Commission clearly marked out the digital development direction by 2030. Saule Technologies presented its response to this call in November 2012 during the première of ESL – Perovskite Electronic Shelf Label. “Cooperation with Somfy is yet another step on our way to open up to new markets. We are sure that our joint efforts with the use of perovskite cells will be able to accelerate the transformation of EU economies in such areas as electronic systems, predictive solutions, AI, big data, and advanced IT solutions,” said Artur Kupczunas, Vice-President of the Management Board, Saule S.A.
The first joint project implemented by the three companies entailed the application of automatic blinds, called sun breakers, with perovskite solar cells on the building owned by the Aliplast company in August 2021. In the summer, sun breakers protect against direct sunlight and excess heat inside, and against cooling of the interior by cold winds in the winter. Saule Technologies’ perovskite photovoltaic cells, as independent green energy sources, can significantly reduce electricity payments and dependence on fossil fuels – which has gained particular significance in the circumstances of the climate crisis and Russian war against Ukraine.
