Smart Pole at the 2025 World Expo (Osaka-Kansai Expo)
We're excited to share that we'll be part of the 2025 World Expo in Osaka-Kansai! We're teaming up with H.I.S. Co., Ltd. (HIS) and Fujipream Corporation to bring our innovative perovskite solar cells to Smart Poles in the Power Pavilion: Eggs of Possibility, hosted by the Federation of Electric Power Companies. This project is a big step toward making advanced renewable energy a natural part of everyday infrastructure.
2025 World Expo
The 2025 World Expo, also known as the Osaka-Kansai Expo, will take place in Japan from April to October 2025. With the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”, the event will showcase innovative solutions to global challenges, focusing on sustainability, technology, and well-being. Expected to attract millions of visitors from around the world, the Expo will feature cutting-edge exhibitions, pavilions from various countries and organizations, and groundbreaking advancements in science and industry. Held on Yumeshima Island in Osaka, it aims to inspire collaboration and shape a better future for humanity.

Perovskite Solar Cells
Perovskite solar cells are at the forefront of next-generation solar technology. Unlike traditional photovoltaic cells, they harness power not only from sunlight but also from indoor lighting. Their lightweight, flexible nature makes them highly versatile for integration into various surfaces and structures, making them an ideal solution for urban energy systems.
H.I.S. has been an early supporter of Saule Technologies, investing in our work since 2015. As the exclusive distributor of our products in Japan and across Asia, H.I.S. is playing a key role in bringing our innovations to new markets and applications.
Smart Pole
A Smart Pole is a technologically advanced structure that combines the functions of a traditional lighting pole with various technologies:
- curved perovskite solar cells,
- IoT-enabled street lighting,
- flexible Digital Signage Sheets (FDSS),
- AI-powered cameras for crowd flow analysis,
- benches with wireless charging capabilities.
Technological Innovations
One of the key advancements in this initiative is the adaptation of our perovskite solar cells to the cylindrical shape. This is possible thanks to the properties of our modules, but also thanks to the lamination and sealing technologies developed by Fujipream. By combining our expertise, we are creating infrastructure that is not only sustainable but also aesthetically appealing and highly functional.
